UniRep Vandhna shares her SC Dance Team experience
The lovely ladies of the SC Dance Team strike a pose after their Jingle Bell Rock performance at the recent Christmas Lunchtime Special (from left): Pravina, Wendy, Vandhna, Nadia, Zlata, Anggi and Arfin (not pictured). The Student Council Dance Team is the lovechild of SC Members who love to dance and to perform. You can actually say that the team was formed overnight and dance practice started the morning after. They have performed for all SC events including the Student Council Expo and the more recent Christmas lunchtime specials.
SC UniRep Vandhna, one of dancers gives us insight on what went on behind the scenes of their Christmas Lunchtime performances:

Vandhna with Santa Claus, fellow UniRep Pravina and SC president Fin.The idea to do the dance was planned on the day we had the SC meeting. Pravina and I came up with the idea and started looking for more SC members who would be interested in the dance. Initially, we had Nadia, Zlata, and Anggi and at the last minute, we were joined by Wendy and Arfin. It changed some formations but it all turned out to be good.
SC president Fin joining the girls for Jingle Bell Rock.I already had in mind what song to dance to. Besides our Jingle Bell Rock dance, we also planned to dance to 'I'm a slave for you' by Britney Spears and 'Buttons' by the Pussycat Dolls. But later we realized both songs were going to be slow and it could get boring after awhile. So with Fin's suggestion, we decided on 'Slave for you' and Ciara’s 'Get Up'.
Dancing to 'I'm a slave for you' and 'Get Up'.With Anggi's help, I came up with the dance steps in two days! After the dance steps were set, we taught the others the dance routine. Once they learned the steps, we started our vigorous practices every single day - before class, between class and also after class. Our practices sometimes ended very late, close to 7 in the evening.

At the same time, we were planning our costumes and after the tiring dance practices we were running around to parts of Singapore looking for the costumes. Even after a lot of planning and negotiating, some of what we planned didn’t work out, so we had to improvise along the way.
Vandhna, Pravina and SC VP for External Events Malkit blow a kiss. After all that we've been through to perfect the dance routine in such a small span of time, we came ready on the day of the performance. Everything which seemed so wrong and messy at first turned out to perfectly smooth in the end. We are all very glad everything turned out right. All our hard work paid off!
