Be gone, ho-hum student life!
Stepping into MDIS as a fresh high school graduate in early-2006 was a big culture shock for me. Gone were the days of the high school spirit of fun, free-spiritedness and camaraderie.
In MDIS, the only people I knew were my classmates, and here I am, in a school of 12,000 students and I know just a negligible number of them!
I felt like a transient student and it wasn’t a very nice feeling. I left school everyday feeling very detached and as a student, I yearned for some form of attachment to my school and peers.
Jealousy also crept in when old friends studying in other schools tell me of how involved they are in their schools’ activities, organizations and clubs.
Sept 3, 2007 was the turning point in my life as a student here. The call for students to form the pioneer batch of the student council was loud and clear and we answered.
The Student Council Expo, the Christmas lunchtime specials… the dormant student life in MDIS is finally gone.
This year, let’s vow to reinvigorate our student culture by even more. Join us in igniting the change.
Sparks: For the students, by the students.
