Blast from the Past.
All hits all day - that's what a local radio station promises us listeners. Therefore, it was no surprise when my body (with a mind and a life of its own) decided to jive a little when Hot Chocolate's
You Sexy Thing played. All this when I was walking through the aisle of a bus.
You see, good music will speak. It would communicate to you and make you (unconsciously) tap your feet, drum your fingers, mouth the lyrics, shake your hips, and shimmy your day away, no matter how embarrassing you may look.
I noticed that music from the last few decades were the best. I may be partial because musically, I'm still living in the 80s and 90s, but really, back in the days, music had soul. Most of us would still remember (while cringing maybe?) the chorus to Backstreet Boys'
As Long as You Love Me and we may still play air-guitar to GNR's
Welcome To The Jungle.
Maybe it's the inexplicable charm of music from back then, because how else could you explain their staying power till now?
Britney's
Gimme More may be fun but I don't think I'll remember the song twenty years from now. Not the way I remember
My Sharona from The Knacks. I mean, dude, that song is older than me and I still dance myself silly whenever I hear it!
