Where to study?
Some plug their ears with blasting noise while others need the serenity of peace, whatever your style is, conducive learning is important as a student.
While Library@Level 4 has been the popular choice for many students, the study area being second, there are also other locations nearby to our UniCampus where you can seat down to do your readings, assignment or group discussion.
First, Macdonald’s@Ridout Tea Garden. It’s even open 24 hours so in case you want to burn the midnight oil cramping for the exams you can actually do it here. Located within walking distance to the UniCampus, it take sonly a maximum of 10 minutes to walk here. Smack in the lush of greenery, air-con the only down is that it might get a little busy with school students,
Second, Queenstown Library. If you’re the kind who needs to study where you-can-hear-the-pin-needle-drop, then Queenstown Library suits you well. Usually vacant before 2pm and after 6pm, ample of seats can be found at the second level. Don’t forget to bring along a jacket as it might get really cold. If your stomach starts to rumble, there’s a café at Level 1 for you to grab a bite.
Lastly, some tips for effective studying:
Study in parts: full concentration 20-50 minute followed by a brief break (5-10 minutes) is the most effective way to study
- Study in the day: one hour of studying in the day is worth two at night! Work that requires most concentration (like reading) should be done earliest in the day when you're still fresh
- Study actively: by asking yourself questions, reviewing notes regularly, discuss key concepts with lecturer and friends.
And tell yourself: Stop procrastinating!
