Some dose of what the REAL meaning of Valentines Day is in today’s more than commercialised world…
Saint Valentine
Patron of Love, Young People, Happy Marriages
The origin of St. Valentine and how many St. Valentines there were remains a mystery. One of the more commonly held views is that he was a Roman Priest under Emperor Claudius II, martyred for refusing to give up his Christian faith. Claudius II banned marriages and engagements during his reign, under the belief that the lack of volunteers for his army was due to young men refusing to leave their families and loves. Saint Valentine was one of the many who did not agree and had secretly married couples in defiance of Claudius II. When caught, he was executed on 14th February, about the year AD270.
Thus, 14th February, became the feast of St. Valentine.
The meaning of Love according to scriptures
“Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up; and its faith, hope and patience never fail.”
Valentine's symbols in the today world
Hearts, roses and cupids are the most popular symbols of Valentine's Day.
Cupid was the son of Venus, the Roman goddess of love and beauty.

Red is the colour of Valentine's Day because it is the colour of a heart.
